GR!

Okay, so there is something that I need to say... just to say it - to let it be put at rest, and never to bother me again.

I have a professor, most certainly an intelligent man- however his process of thinking goes way beyond how I tend to think. He is film professor, and nearly drives me crazy with the art of camera angles, continuity editing, and a choices of film. His view seems to be one from the defiant 60's.. rebelling from whatever societal values may have been standard for that decade. He has studied so diligently the art of film, and....

Here is the deal my dear professor, STOP TALKING ABOUT ME TO OTHER STUDENTS! I really have a problem with this! Seriously, I know you think I am "weird" because I don't watch scary movies, because I understand the business of film more than I understand the art - but it does not mean I do not respect it! You have told other students that I am "weird" because I cried during the Wizard of Oz, because I won't watch scary movies, and I have really had enough.

Here is the thing: You, you are brilliant, you see things differently than others, and that? That is cool - I don't go crazy at your choices for films to show the intricate nature of continutity editing, I don't yell and scream that you have me watch films that nearly make me want to vomit from the story line and portrayal - I go to class, and listen intently on what you are trying to teach us dear professor. I went up to you at the beginning of the semester, to let you know my standards, not as a tactic to be lazy - but that I would study even more for the films that I just cannot bring myself morally to watch, and you still openly poke fun at it. The thing you do not seem to understand is, that in the same way you find me "weird"for not enjoying your choice in films, I find you "weird" for enjoying such things. The difference is, I do not go around and put down your choices to others. I feel that you could establish your examples of editing, filming, and so many other aspects with better choices in film - especially for a core class that everyone in the department must take in order to graduate. You have an opportunity, and take the easiest ways out showing movies with sex and violence... *sigh*

I was and am willing to accept the consequences for not being able to watch two movies this semester - I have researched them, I know the story line, I have read your notes - but I am unwilling to be mocked because we do not believe the same. I am so annoyed by your actions! You are middle age for goodness sakes, you have fought all your life to be respected for your choices, and now that it is time for you to pay the same respect to your students - you choose to become stingy. I am upset, I have to pass your class with an A to graduate - and you have just made the task even more challenging. What can I say, but Thank you so much for being the most closed minded self proclaiming open minded person I know! I will pass your class, I will continue to go... and as of now - it is off my chest, and I am letting it go.
